Abstract:

    It is difficult to delve into the history of Ottoman Algeria without reading what the Europeans wrote of travelers, consuls, spies, monks, tourists, adventurers and prisoners who are foreigners and outsiders of Algerian society, who have lived in his arms for a while. Writing the history of Ottoman Algeria, and a large section of these sources can never be dispensed with. In these books, the Europeans wrote certificates, descriptions, exact dates, statistics, lists of referees, analyzes of serious incidents, reports and details not found in these books.

أهمية المصادر الأوروبية في كتابة تاريخ الجزائر

إنّه من العسير الخوض في تاريخ الجزائر العثمانية دون الاطلاع على ما كتبه الأوروبيون من رحالة، وقناصل، و جواسيس و رهبان و سيّاح ومغامرين و أسرى الذين هم أجانب و دخلاء عن المجتمع الجزائري، أقاموا بين أحضانه فترة من الزمن تركوا انطباعاتهم التي أصبحت مصدرا مهما في كتابة تاريخ الجزائر العثماني، و قسم كبير من هذه المصادر لا يمكن أن نستغني عنها أبدا، ففي كتب هؤلاء الأوروبيين شهادات    وأوصافا و تواريخ مضبوطة و إحصاءات و قوائم الحكام و تحليلات لحوادث خطيرة، وتقارير و تفاصيل لا نجدها  في غير  هذه الكتب.
