World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week: A Scientific Event at Sidi Bel Abbès University

🔬 As part of the World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week, the Bio For Life club and The Beginning Club, in collaboration with the Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences – Djillali Liabès University, Sidi Bel Abbès, organized a scientific day on November 24, 2024.

💡 The main aim of this event was to raise awareness about the dangers of antimicrobial resistance and to highlight the importance of rational antibiotic use in order to safeguard public health and protect the future of generations to come.

The Event

On Saturday, November 16, 2024, the Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences at Djillali Liabes University – Sidi Bel Abbès organized, at the Prof. Ben Ali Mohamed conference hall, a national conference entitled:
“Biological Control: A Relevant Alternative for Food Security”.

Scientific Focus

The conference addressed food security challenges and the harmful effects of chemical pesticides. PhD students contributed with insightful presentations through specialized workshops.

Special Recognition

A tribute was paid to Prof. Benyahia Mohamed, former Dean of the Faculty, by the University Rector, in recognition of his distinguished academic career.

Significance of the Conference

This scientific event highlighted the importance of adopting biological control as a strategic choice to enhance food security, protect the environment, and open new horizons for researchers in agriculture, environment, and public health.

Awareness Campaign on Malaria and Pollution Organized by Bio For Life Club

Today, the Bio For Life club organized an important awareness campaign highlighting the negative impacts of both malaria and pollution on our public health and the environment around us.

• During the campaign, we focused on:
1/ The health risks caused by the spread of malaria and the importance of prevention.
2/ The effects of environmental pollution on our health and how it contributes to the growth and spread of diseases.
3/ Practical guidelines to protect ourselves and our environment from these threats.

• A comprehensive lecture on the topic was also delivered, enriched with an engaging group activity.
• Many thanks to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of this event. Together, we can make a difference and live in a healthier, safer environment

As part of the Erasmus+ international cooperation program, the Faculty had the honor of welcoming Ms. Katarzyna Lubiech, a teacher-researcher from Kazimierz University in Poland

On this occasion, Ms. Lubiech delivered an insightful lecture on the topic of food security, addressing current challenges related to the availability, accessibility, and quality of food in a constantly evolving global context. Her presentation allowed students and faculty in attendance to broaden their knowledge while fostering intercultural scientific exchange.

This visit is part of the Faculty’s commitment to strengthening its international partnerships, broadening its academic horizons, and encouraging dialogue between researchers from different countries on issues that are crucial for the future

This morning,23 april2024 the Bio For Life club organized a rich scientific exhibition that focused on two key topics in the field of natural and life sciences:

🔬 Demonstration of the antigen–antibody reaction
🌱 Plant cloning: in vitro culture of plant tissues

The exhibition featured interactive scientific explanations, providing students and visitors with a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of these concepts and benefit from the expertise of professors and specialists.
