Call for applications: Project “African Women in Tech and AI” / Project “African Women in Tech and AI”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (MESRS) received a message from the Algerian Permanent Delegation to UNESCO, informing of the launch of the call for applications for the second cohort of the “African Women in Tech and AI” project.

The “African Women in Tech and AI” project is structured around three specific objectives. First, it aims to develop and strengthen the skills in AI, technological innovation, and leadership of 150 African women by 2025. At the same time, the project plans to incubate approximately thirty entrepreneurial projects initiated by African women who have benefited from the training. Second, the project aims to develop AI-based technologies aimed at solving problems endogenous to the African continent, particularly social, gender, environmental, agricultural, energy, education, and health issues. This initiative contributes, through the development of innovative solutions that have a positive impact on local communities, to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and those of the African Union’s Agenda 2063. Finally, this project aims to create a pan-African network of women working in the field of AI and to encourage greater representation of African women in the technology and digital sectors.

In 2023-2024, the project contributed to the training of 114 women from 28 African countries and the incubation of 22 entrepreneurial projects led by 22 of these women.

We are asked to select three applications from women to submit by March 22, 2025. We therefore kindly request that you submit your applications so that we can proceed with the selection process.

The application file must include the contact details, CV and a letter from the candidate presenting their motivations and a project or project idea using artificial intelligence (AI) to provide local solutions to a problem linked to the Sustainable Development Goals.
