An Introduction to the Faculty

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is one of the nine faculties affiliated with Djillali Liabes University in Sidi Bel Abbès.

It was established by Executive Decree No. 272/12 dated June 28, 2012, amending and supplementing Executive Decree No. 141/89 dated August 1, 1989.

The Pedagogical Structure of the Faculty

The faculty annually welcomes the total number of enrolled students directed to it, who are then distributed according to their choices across five departments offering undergraduate and postgraduate training:

  • Department of Humanities (Decree No. 357 dated May 15, 2014)
  • Department of Social Sciences (Decree No. 357 dated May 15, 2014)
  • Department of Information and Communication Sciences
  • Department of Sociology
  • Department of Psychology and Educational Sciences

Undergraduate training at the faculty covers the field of humanities and social sciences, each branching into several majors and specializations.

The Administrative Structure of the Faculty

The faculty’s administrative structure relies on two complementary management systems, both overseen by the Dean of the Faculty:

  1. Administrative Management (5th and 6th floors)

  2. Pedagogical Management, supported by:

    • The Vice Dean in charge of pedagogy and student affairs
    • The Vice Dean in charge of postgraduate studies, scientific research, and external relations
    • Heads of departments and their deputies
    • Heads of scientific committees
    • The President of the Scientific Council
    • The Secretary-General, responsible for managing:
      • The Personnel Service
      • The Budget and Accounting Service
      • The Facilities and Maintenance Service
      • The Cultural and Sports Activities Service
      • The Security Service
