Dénomination de l'équipe 3:
Waste Valorization and Sustainable Development (VAL3D)
Thématique de l'équipe 3:
Within the Laboratory of Materials and Catalysis, Team 4 focuses its research on the valorization of agro-food waste to develop innovative and environmentally friendly adsorbent materials. This approach is fully aligned with the principles of sustainable development and environmental protection.
The team's main objective is to design low-cost agromaterials capable of treating industrial wastewater contaminated with organic and inorganic pollutants.
The research activities are structured into three main stages:
Waste collection and transformation
Agro-industrial by-products such as olive pits, olive pomace, date pits, coffee grounds, etc., are collected and subjected to chemical and/or thermal treatments to produce adsorbent supports.
Material characterization
The resulting materials are analyzed using advanced physicochemical techniques such as BET, XRD, FTIR, SEM, TGA/DSC, etc., to determine their porous structure, surface functionalities, and morphology.
Application to wastewater treatment
The performance of the materials is assessed through adsorption experiments in aqueous solutions. The study of adsorption isotherms, kinetic models, and thermodynamic parameters helps optimize the conditions for practical use of these materials in real wastewater treatment scenarios.
