The University of Qasdi Merbah in Ouargla is organising the seventh edition of the medical sciences residency competition for the southern regions.
In accordance with the joint ministerial decision issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Health,

on Saturday, 8 November 2025, the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of University Centre 01 at the University of Qasdi Merbah in Ouargla hosted the regional competition in internal medicine to select one of the ten open specialisations, namely :
anaesthesiology, radiology, general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, internal medicine, paediatrics, gynaecology, resuscitation, and emergency medicine. A total of 594 general practitioners from 20 provinces in the south and the highlands participated in this conference.

The exams were monitored to ensure that they were conducted properly, in the presence of the university director,Professor Mohamed Taher Halilat, his assistant in charge of scientific research, the dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ouargla, the secretary general of the faculty, as well as Professor Gernot Marzouq, head of the committee supervising the examinations Sadki Ibrahim, Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Health, Professor Shabati Omar, representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ms. Samia Baba, Deputy Director of Medical and Paramedical Staff at the Ministry of Health, and Ahmed Sangari, Director of Health in the province of Ouargla.
The committee also included the deans of the faculties of medicine at the universities of Sidi Bel Abbès, Bechar and Laghouat.
