
Opening of the Winter School on Linux and Free and Open Source Software (FOSS)
The Mansouri Abdel-Razzak Central Library at Djillali Liabès University in Sidi Bel Abbès hosted, on Sunday, 18 January 2025 at 9:00 AM, the opening ceremony of the Winter School on Linux and Free and Open Source Software, scheduled to take place from 18 to 22 January, in the presence of distinguished official and academic guests.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Bouziani Marahi, University Director, accompanied by Professor Chaâlal Ahmed, who officially inaugurated this edition.
The event was attended by several university directors, members of the National Committee for Free Software, notably Professor Aïbich Issa, university staff, as well as professors, researchers, and PhD students from various universities across the country.
This Winter School is part of efforts to strengthen high-quality training and promote a culture of free and open source software within the academic environment, in line with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s strategies for digital transformation, innovation promotion, and the development of national competencies capable of contributing to digital sovereignty.
The school’s program includes a series of specialized scientific lectures, practical workshops, and discussion sessions aimed at exchanging expertise, developing participants’ technical and research skills, and opening avenues for scientific collaboration between researchers and academic institutions.
